Jonas
receives the new rules for his assignment. That were five but the most shocking
one is “You may lie”. The next day he went to the Annex to start his
training with The Giver. Jonas gets there and saw many books and he said that
he had never saw so many books; strange but is how the novel is. Jonas receive
his first memory of the past was of snow and of a sled, and after a while was a
sunshine. Jonas asked why there is not snow and sunshine and he explain because
of sameness. On school everyone was commenting on his training and Jonas was
happy to not doing that because he said how you described something if a person
has never seen it or touch it. We discover at the end that to see beyond is to
see in color we know this because Jonas sees Fiona’s hair changing to red. The
society sees in black and white why we don’t know. What is the problem of
seeing in color?
An example of what they see.
My
job is to transmit to you all the memories I have within in me. Memories of the
past. … “It’s not my past, not my childhood that I must transmit you.”… “It’s
the memories of the whole world,”. 77
Key … it means
that I skipped parts.
This quote makes
think to things the first a inference and the next one a connection to the
theme that is the importance memories. First my inference the people of the
past lose or get erase the memories. Then I had this question being asked that
what is the problem if they remember snow, sunshine’s, but then I asked is okay
to erase your memory and lose that moments of happiness? Now my connection with
theme, memories are important because with that we can refer to the past and
not make those errors again. Memories help us change our lives for example if
you did something wrong you remember of what you did, and won’t do it again.
But without memories we can repeat that error a million times and can’t stop
it. Preventing a war is to think in the past and to stop that because on that
million people die, families lost loved ones. I made this connection to theme
by my inference.
First of all in
my other blog I put a prediction and I think it won’t happen with what I read
and that made me very sad. Then one new prediction about the book, well two.
The first one is that he will tell someone about the training or the memories
to someone maybe Fiona, Asher or his family. Then as we saw Baby Gabe has the
same color of eyes and he would transmit some memories to him.
Jose Andres, you are saying that Jonas is going to transmit memories to Gabe because they have the same color of eyes? Why do you think that is going to happend?
ReplyDeleteCoque, I agree with what your saying because I also think that he is not going to be strong enough to keep all the memories to himself and he is going to tell someone about it. I think he is going to pass the memories to baby Gabe because of his eyes as you said. But what do you think is going to happen to baby Gabe? and what if Jonas does pass the memories to Gabe but he is releases, then all the memories he passed him are going to be lost. What do you think?
ReplyDeletecoque, first of all I really enjoy reading your blog. I liked the way you put some words bigger and in other colours so they stand out. Also the pictures were very good because they were related with what you where talking about. And to answer you question "What is the problem of seeing in color?" I think that they don't want colors because they all wanted to be equal and that way they make a "better" society.
ReplyDeleteCoquee! I realy like how you oput lot of imfomation and suppoert your ideas. I feelconected with your first part becuase I also write about the rule o yo may lie, I also think that jonas was shocked and i can say that I was also impressed because is not easy to say that to someone and that this person will lie just because he is allowed too.
ReplyDeleteCoque i like your blog very much including your style of writing. After reading what you said about memory's preventing us from doing wrong choices it made me think that if the elders are so concerned about safety and the community running smoothly then why do they erase their memory's so they can make does errors again?
