There was a part that impact me was, there was the morning ritual and Jonas tell his dream and after her mother talk with him about stirrings:
"A REMINDER THAT STIRRINGS MUST BE REPORTED IN ORDER FOR TREATMENT TO TAKE PLACE"(...) "Do I have to report it?"(...) "You did, in the dream-telling. That's enough" "But what about the treatment?" (...) "No, no," she said. "It's just the pills. You're ready for the pills, that's all. That's the treatment for Stirrings."

Key: (...) it means I skipped parts.
For me this part impact me because why they don't allow you to have those feelings. Then I haved a question how does a pill make that the feeling go away? Then I start to think about that they are taking away a part of you, you can't be yourself a change can change you. After I thought of this I became with a connection with the Truman Show when Truman realized he live in a world full of lies he start changing and never went to the old one. Why does the government needs to have a lot of control of the citizens. Then I make this question it is okay that someone take away a part of us or to tell us not to be that way".
To finish my blog I have to say that this chapters were very great but to much intrigue about why things are happening like that. A prediction that I have is that on his new job Jonas will try to change the community and its rules. Also I have another question what does the receiver of memories does?

I hope this happens.
In my opinion that quote was explaining how they cannot feel stirrings. I think that is not good because is unrespectable to take your feelings away. I like your blog I like how you explain your thought and how you connected with the Truman show, you shod connect in all you blogs.
ReplyDeleteThanks Manuela for your comment I agree with you and I will try to connect in all of my blogs.
ReplyDeleteJose Andres, as Manuela mentioned before I'm agree with your thoughts about the stirrings, and with your connection to the Truman show. I'm very likely with your question about if "it is okay if someone takes away a part of us or to tell us not to be that way" I think is a very good question to ask yourself about because it is a very important topic to always have in mind while reading the Giver.
ReplyDeleteThnaks Bernarda for comenting in my blog. I love that it like you and I agree with you.
